Major injuries in afternoon Millard wreck, speed and seat belts a factor

Two motorists suffered major injuries following an afternoon wreck at 138th & Millard Avenue.

At about 4:00 p.m. a green 1985 Ford Mustang was traveling north/east on Millard Avenue from S Street at an extremely high rate of speed.  The Mustang continued past Q Street and collided with a white 2017 Chevrolet Traverse that was making a left turn from south/westbound Millard Avenue onto southbound 138th Street.

Following the massive collision both drivers had to be extricated from the vehicles by Omaha Fire/Rescue personnel. They were transported via OFD medics to Nebraska Medicine with critical injuries.

The first victim in the Ford Mustang was identified as 25 year old Cory D. Vohs Omaha, Nebraska. He was an unrestrained driver and is being treated for head injuries, broken ribs, internal bleeding, broken pelvis, broken femur and a broken ankle.

The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse was identified as 64 year old of Nancy E. Brickley also of Omaha. She was a restrained driver and is being treated for a broken femur, a broken ankle and a subdural hematoma.

Police said excessive speed and lack of seat belt usage were contributing factors to the serious nature of the injuries. This collision remains under investigation.
