One person transported to Nebraska Medicine after Southwest Omaha cutting

One patient was transported to Nebraska Medicine after a report of a cutting in Oak Ridge Apartments at about 3:35 am this morning.

Omaha Police, Douglas County Sheriff Office Deputies, and Omaha Firefighters were dispatched to 12793 Woodcrest Plaza for a report of a cutting.

Upon arrival police and deputies discovered a male who was stabbed in the back and also combative. Police and deputies tracked suspects to a nearby apartment and took several people into custody.

Omaha Fire Department Medics transported the patient to Nebraska Medicine in serious condition.

Police have since identified the victim as 24 year old Jal Gatuoch.  Police have also named 33 year old Jal Kuek as being a suspect.

Officers responded to a cutting at 12793 Woodcraft Plaza #9. A victim was located suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Nebraska Medical Center by Omaha Fire Department Medic. A suspect was identified, located and booked for 2nd Degree Felony Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Victim: Jal Gatuoch, DOB 05/02/1992

Suspect: Jal Kuek, DOB 10/08/1983
