Trump supporters, counter protesters, police clash in downtown Omaha

Multiple counter protesters were arrested in downtown Omaha after clashing with police and supporters of President Donald Trump this afternoon.

Trump supporters gathered downtown just after 2 p.m. and marched to the City / County Building near 18th & Farnam Street. Counter protesters also gathered in the area and eventually skirmished with police.

Trump supporters played music and chanted “USA! USA!” while counter protesters decried fascism on megaphones and threw a red colored smoke bomb.

Police, including officers on bicycle and horseback, used pepperball guns to disperse the crowd of counter protesters. An Omaha Fire Department Hazmat unit was called to the scene to check out a suspicious bottle that turned out to be harmless.

No injuries were reported.
