An overturned cattle truck caused big headaches on an Omaha freeway interchange Thursday. The truck, traveling from Ainsworth Nebraska to a South Omaha slaughterhouse, overturned just before 10 pm on the I-80 & I-680 interchange curve. Approximately 12 cows were set loose across multiple traffic lanes.
Officers from Omaha Police and Troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol closed most of the interchange while the cows were contained. Some cows were unable to be corralled and were shot dead after trying to make an escape.
Traffic lanes on I-80 were opened back up after midnight.
